for joseph.
Right now our system is a privatized monopoly. The thing that occurs with a privatized monopoly is two things: 1. increase in healthcare costs and 2. minimal coverage.
The reason that this business is killing american homes is because of the govt is giving 19% of tax dollars to the healthcare system without taking any control. Its like donating to a charity and hoping they do the right thing with the money rather than an investment where you have say in what your money goes to.
There are two options:
1. strictly privatized healthcare (many businesses competing)
2. Socialized healthcare aka universal healthcare (govt provides coverage)
Both have their perks. Both have their faults. Both are better than what we have now.
My opinion:
The less govt the better. The problem is there is no competing businesses. Healthcare is seen as a necessity rather than a want so it is something that one would think is less dependent on competition but actually its the opposite. This goes back to fundamental ecomonics. Supply and demand.
It would be a disaster if we went directly to privatized healthcare. Upstart companies being the david to the longstanding healthcare system goliath. This wouldnt end with david winning though.
My recommendation:
Provide tax break incentives to companies that are starting or providing competitive prices. Think of toyota car company for this one. They provided a more valuable product for less price. That is why toyota was booming when american companies were failing.
It is a pipe dream at this point to have the system working like it does with all other consumer products. It should be the long term goal though.

I believe the government is here to serve the people, not to tell the people what they can and can't do. I believe healthcare is a basic need and the government should supply it. Insurance companies are nothing more than legalized racqueteers.

I have yet to get into insurance companies. As you seen in the other thread. I am against insurance companies. They are like unions for healthcare.
(I am for car insurance (liability only) since that is to protect others)

we haven't talked about insurance yet. I think people putting their stance on healthcare first and then we can get into healthcare. No one has put their opinons on "healthcare"

But wouldn't Liability Homeowners Insurance only cover damage to others(and their property) only? So then with a private fire company, you would cut them a check. Just like in a 1-car accident with liability insurance, they would only cover damages that weren't yours.

Ok. What do you want me to do with that? You stated you opinion by starting a thread that could have simply been a private message. Would you like me to respond? If so, let me know via a response to this thread, and I will try to get back to you tomorrow. I am going to pass out now.
