I've got a 1995 Honda civic DX, auto. Speedo is dead, looking to replace the gauge cluster. I've only seen a few on ebay and they are for 5speed cars. The only difference i see is the gear selection (P-R-D-3-2-1) is obviously not on the 5speed clusters. Would it still work? I just want a working speedo, don't really care about having the gear selection displayed on the dash.

If not sometimes you can swap the green backing from cluster to cluster and it will work a majority of the time.

X2.
You might get a check engine light for the cluster, but thats highly unlikely.

are you sure its the cluster not the speedo sensor in the tranny?

I know for my generation honda (01-05) it's very common to switch from an 01-02 style to an 03-05 cluster, and a lot of times people use auto clusters for a manual. It's not a direct swap some of the wires need to be moved to different spots in the harness, but that might just be due to the difference in years. I imagine in the same year, just an auto/manual difference it's the same.
honda-tech is your friend for this issue, the ricers know all about swapping gauges and that type of thing

the speedo works intermittently. i replaced the speedo sensor, no change. then i downloaded a repair manual, printed off the speedo troubleshooting and did the troubleshooting. it's not the sensor or the harness, i've got it narrowed down to the speedo itself.

shouldnt be a problem, id check honda tech if you are that concerned about losing a couple bucks if it doesnt work.
