hahahahahahahaha
by far the dumbest thing said about the NFL.
Yeah, lets play 62%... because its sooo easy to get into the playoffs. 32 teams, 12 spots. Yap, sure thing buddy. The only games that are a wash are the last 2 games of the year for the teams that are 12-2 or something like that.

At least it isnt like basketball/baseball where 50% of the teams make it to playoffs and they play 90 game seasons

I'm thinkin that there would be a lot less injuries if people only played at 62%

why would injuries be less?
you still have to run, jump, catch, etc.....im confused

oh and usually, thats the NFC... its the weaker conference.... there was a 10-6 team in the AFC that missed the playoffs last year.

when people get paid to play....they play up to their pay....why would they put more effort into somethign at the same pay?
Thunder
3rd September 2008, 11:50 AM
Yeah and college football is so awesome... nothing like Oklahoma vs Chattanooga ... 50-0 at halftime, yap great game
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy both. Both have their flaws though. Scheduling creampuff games, superior teams getting weak bowl games and vice versa
Oh then theres the 2001 Huskers... what a great system, get THROTTLED last game of the season, not even play in the conference championship game, and yet still plays for the national championship...wut?

Pretty sure there's only been six 8-8 teams that have made the playoffs since the NFL went to a 16 game schedule. (30 years)

I don't pick a team to win it all in week 12 or in any other week. I just simply make sure the two best teams at the end of the season play each other to determine the real champion.

2001 Miami >>>> * Other 2001 Teams
They would have blown out everyone so it didn't matter who I had them play. So I put all the teams that would get the biggest TV audiences into a hat and pulled out a name. Voila. There's your explanation.

had NOTHING to do with teh regular season which proves my point that the regular season in NFL doesnt matter.

sure it matters...they won 10 games right?
Thunder
3rd September 2008, 03:27 PM
What if the Giants played 62% for 3 games... then they would have lost those 3 games... so instead of winning 10, they win 7, and instead of beating the pats in the super bowl, they'd be golfing.

You must not have when watching the NFL when people were wondering if the AFC would ever win another Super Bowl.

I'm well aware of the NFC dominance of the 90s... it changes... like college football. Remember when Nebraska/Florida State/Miami were powerhouses? Yeah, exactly.

62% in effort = 62% in winning percentage.......you dont play for a title in NCAA with a 62% winning percentage....

62% in effort = 62% in winning percentage.......you dont play for a title in NCAA with a 62% winning percentage....
thats a load of baloney... its called parity, theres much more of it in the NFL. The NFL is the cream of the crop when it comes to football players, so 100% effort won't yield a perfect record because everyone is so damn good. I mean sure there are going to be terrible teams, but theres only 3-4 truly horrible NFL teams. Its usually bad management or injuries that lead to that.
Then you get a team like last years Hawaii... breeze through a CREAMPUFF schedule... go 12-0 in the regular season, then come back down to earth and actually play a good college team (George Bulldogs) who were 10-2... but hawaii gets BLASTED and embarrassed on national TV 41-10.
and FYI, LSU lost 2 games last year and won the NCAA title.
