They lost me with the opening sentence. The author may as well have put "My articles are complete bullshit" right in the header.
Daniel, how many cars do you own?
I'd have to think about it for a second.
To most people that's not normal.

If you don't understand the opening sentence perhaps you should criticize yourself.

To quote his comment on "5 million dollars" FOR ANY REASON is to identify yourself as a moron. Did you read the transcript? Did you watch the interview?

Why dont you put it into context for us then? What does mccain classify as rich?

Indeed I am. You don't seem to want to though, understandably so.

The only reason someone asks that question doesn't have to do with a number, it is to set about deciding who among society should be legally obligated to pay more to fund our government. Which they already do, but I mean MORE more. Or possibly even more than that.
So when McCain threw out that number of 5 million, it was like saying "who gives a ****". Who cares how successful one person is compared to someone else, why should any effort to make life easier be exclusive to the poor.

Yeah, the rich have it so hard. It is hard keeping track of how many houses you have ect....
As far as I know obama is proposing to lower taxes more than mccain for everyone on this board. And he is planning on raising taxes for the rich, while mccain is planning on lowering for the rich.
Listen, i am all for lower taxes, but I also am a realist, and understand that if we owe money, we need to repay it.
Taxes need to go up to fund this war, what other option do we have? wait until all the baby boomers die and leave their debt with us (younger generation). Cause that's what it looks like they are planning on doing.

First of all, back this up.
Secondly, I found McCain's answer more appealing because it doesn't pander to the class envy bullshit that for whatever reason people are less and less embarrassed to be associated with.

McCain's $5 million response was obviously a joke.
Neither of the Candidates probably wants to actually pick a number like that, so they avoid the question by giving nice speeches about how they want to lower taxes for everybody, and some people who are considered rich earn their money and work 24...err...16 hours a day.
Eventually, one of them will have to pick a real number, but that won't probably happen until one of them is already elected.

so obama's 4 million dollar home is pocket cash?
dave

I thought obama did.
And daniel, i am trying to find some info on the taxes but every article i read contradicts the one before it, so its hard to find any real numbers.
However, Obama has pledged to not raise taxes for anyone making under 250k, so that helps me weed through a lot of the bullshit right there (like the picture aweb posted)

your statement should not be confused with CUTTING taxes which are counterintuitive to getting out of debt and programs that people are so hung up on like welfare

Can't we just stop paying taxes, but maintain all government funded programs? That would make everybody happy!
