I've been having problems with my 46RE automatic transmission on my 99 dodge dakota.. It only has 69,000 miles on it and has always shifted perfect until a few weeks ago.. Under normal throttle it shifts fine, but under WOT it wont shift from 1st to 2nd.. Once it starts to shift, it will just slip and rev up.. The second thing is that it wont go into park either.. The shift lever goes into park, but the transmission is actually in reverse:dunno:
Today I dropped my pan thinking maybe that I could figure out what was going on.. There was only small metal shavings on the magnet and no larger pieces.. I've never worked on transmissions before so I'm not sure what exactly I should be looking for.. I was just looking for suggestions from those with some previous transmission experiences.. Or if someone would like to take a look at it for me that'd be cool too.. I could give you some cash or buy you some beer:cool1:
Thanks for the help

Well mine does that too, partial to my syncros getting old (edit: sorry not syncros but you know what I meant),,,,,, just check to see if the adjustment is correct (doesn't explain why at WOT it slipps), check tranny fluid

I plan on adjusting the bands while I have the pan off and I'll mess with the linkage some more.. I cut my filter open and found a little sliver of metal.. It looked about like this >>> ( and was about 6 MM long.. It was really thin.. Thats the only unusual thing I've noticed thus far..
I'll most likely give you a call here in a bit Chad, thanks man

Yeah I figure its pretty much done for.. I'm just hoping it'll last for another month or month and a half... school refund checks FTMFW!!!
Anyone know of any good transmission shops in Lincoln?? Time for Kevlar bands, higher stall, shift kit, etc.... I know parts from the bigger diesel tranny's will fit also, which is supposed to help with the life span:cry:

Thats basically what the 46RE is but with overdrive.. I've been looking at 727s and it sounds like a good route to go.. Eventually I'll be dropping in a 408, so I might as well do the tranny right the first time..
Do you know of any place in Lincoln that specializes in 727's??

About how much would I be looking to spend for a beefed up 727 from Nebraska Tranny?? I'm gonna have to look into that for sure..
Thanks man
BTW: what all do you have done to your 360s?? Any big plans for them??

Both the guys at the shop used to work at a crapsler dealership so and chad was the tranny guru.

Not sure on what the price would cost on "beefed" up depends on what exactly u want done and what parts cost is. Both my 360's are stock and slow. +1 for the shop inc if they actually wanna do tranny work on a craplser.

Yeah they are definately know for there "awesome" transmissions.. I changed the filter and fluid.. adjusted the bands but it still feels the same (if not worse)
I'm heading out of town for the weekend but I think Monday or Tuesday I'm gonna have Chad from THE SHOP take a look at it..
