72Nova

I have a 72 chevy nova with a SBC 350. I found this kit in a chevy high performance magazine. I put the link below. It seems like a real good price for all that you get. I can't find out much more info on the cylinder heads, so i'll have to contact them. But I was just wondering If any of you have had any experience with Doug Herbert products or heard anything about them, good or bad. Thanks for the help and let me know what you think about the kit.

I've only heard good things about Doug Herbert stuff. I know I talked to him for about 20 minutes at a race in Topeka while I spent the day in his hospitality tent, and he definitely knows his **** and seems like a good guy.

I have bought a lot of higher end parts from there and there used to be THE place to get a budget solid roller.

Herbert is a badass. Simply put though, don't just buy a cam that's rated for a certain horsepower. Every car is different and with different needs. A nova being a midrange weight car, you don't need a hell of alot of cam, but also you need to figure your stall speed, gears, what will physically fit in the engine, etc.

chevy's are weird like that, they never seem to be running "big" cams. but in reality a .520 lift cam is equivalent to like a .580 lift cam in a ford.

A big part of that is that John is used to roller cam profiles vs. chevy's typical flat tappet.

^both post would be true, well I will just believe what hibs says, and yes this is correct, I am used to the hydrolic rollers.
but either way, I am still a huge n00b to pushrods
