The increase in the minimum wage may have had a direct impact in the economy's slowdown. The media doesn't cover the fact Obama wants to raise the minimum wage every year for inflation.

the value of the dollar is arbitrary.....the only thing that matters is the value of the dollar in a comparative sense with other countries monetary units....

but i see where he is trying to go with it.....

meh. not real controversial. I'm against minimum wage as I'm against most government intervention but see it as a more or less irrelevant issue.

seems like it might be one of the last things that is slowing our economy down. perhaps a more realistic foreign policy would also behoove us. We waste a lot of money.

Hey, I wrote the blog, I'm on Ross's name. I just want to make it clear that I'm not arguing that this is the main problem with our economy. No doubt that oil prices are one of the main contributors to the economy problems. Not to mention other factors. But, my arguement is that the dems will say that they gave the average american an increase in wage and people will accept it at face value. Unfortunately the average american doesn't have the time to figure out the economics behind the promises of the dems. And honestly, even if they did have the time, this stuff is boring, I like it but seriously I know most people are bored with it and I understand that. The dems like to promise things like minimum wage increases, free health care, imediate removal of troops from Iraq, but they rarely address the consequences of the proposals they suggest. Free health care would not be free. They tax to pay for it. And, they claim to tax the rich. But, look a little further into what they constitute as rich. Rich includes my dad that makes an upper middle class wage. Thats fine if you define that as rich. But, if you take my dad's wage and spread it among a larger family than mine, you are not so rich anymore. I am getting too far into other topics that I most likely will discuss in future blogs but, I love fair criticism and alternate ideas so please keep it coming, and keep it fair. The saddest thing to me is my generation's apathy towards today's political environment. Keep it coming everyone!
