i dont know if your being sarcastic or not justin but IMO these guys have some pretty decent driving talents. I would bet you could not find 5 people on this board able to go out and half ass try what they were doing, let alone not wreck their car or slam into eachother.

I am not trying to stick up for drifting, i was just saying that these guys are obviously pretty good drivers.

you all can say you can do that, i have never seen it so i will doubt it.

everyone knocks on drifting as a sport.
and that is more than fine by me.

but it takes more driver skill than you can imagine

i dont think it is fair to compare power sliding around a parking lot and what these guys are doing in the video.

They are just a bunch of crazy asians!

show me a safe and good spot to do it.

edit-i can't get the multi-quote thing to work.. I already said this once though. no open parking lot b.s.

that may be the case but they are pretty good at what they are doing. I know what you can do with a car, you rode with me countless times in the Z, etc.

I don't think we could go out there and do this without some practice and broken parts.

Exactly
what I would have said.

read this clearly: I have never open-parking lot 'drifted' that is a waste of gas and tires, among being really gay.

growing up in the country and slingin' a 3speed manual on the floor in a 78 firebird with airshocks and 75 series tires on gravel 70+ mph with megadeth cranked up at age 15 is a nice start to where I learned this "drifting talent". move onto the 81 cutlass I would throw in reverse, whip it around, go into drive, and continue on. lots and lots of more gravel. move along into last year with the Porsche, and I was sliding that thing around every corner I had a 'safe' chance.

drifting is fun, and does take talent. just becuase I drive a mullet ride doens't mean I powerslide a corner once and call it badass. **** I'm 27 and I drive nothing less than full throttle at all times. I think I know wtf I'm doing behind the wheel by now.

drifting on gravel and cement are 2 different worlds.

the gravel would only teach you proper steering angles and thats really all that could relate to pavement

too bad I dont' have a 500+whp car on a closed course for doing that kind of ****.

and I agree with drifting in a open lot is gay,
but thats how and where you will learn the basics of car controll and can practice lots of techniques.

on gravel you cant work with weight transfers, like braking and "feint" ing
and knowing weight transfer techniques are key, unless you have a rediculous amount of torque and you just romp the throttle before the corner entry to induce oversteer

you already proved my point before. I learned the angles and what not on gravel. I drifted the porsche on pavement

I know a decent spot. South of A street around 1st. It's not like what I saw in the video, just one turn, but it's wide and its fun. Also, the Highlands has one of those circle intersections, I don't know what they're called. It's a tight radius, but another fun one. Check it out. Just watch out for that crazy ***** in the blue oxidized chevelle. :D
