You think its better to race with a full tank of gas and get more weight on the rear if you got traction issues, even though it'll hurt your top end with more weight? Or race with low gas, would it make a big difference in giving you even less traction? Or is the differnece negligible?

I usually try to race with around 1/4 of a tank.

when I raced "96speedZ28" my car gas guage was in the red on "E" and my car wheelhopped terribly and spun em pretty good even with a 2900rpm launch and DR's...so after that I don't race my car with less than 1/4 tank :lol:

well with less weight it takes less to get the car moving so in a sence you could have better traction there probally a fine medium. me i race witht he least amount of gas possible awd ftw

Its stupid to run low gas in a RWD car which the gas tank usually is in the rear helping put weight over the wheels

AWD = least weight FTW!

full tank in a FWD works best

^^^^^ +1

Are you two on crack?

I'll race with whatever I have in the tank. Preferably around 1/4 full.

full tank w/ extra full cans in the trunk.

Sounds like what I need.

I run with whatever I got in the tank, but if you had slicks or even drag radials and could hook up decently after a good burnout to heat the tires, I would go with as little as possible, because it isn't going to help that much. In my case, I need like 3 or 400 lbs of lead weights in the back!

Since you have Drag Radials, I think part of the problem is that you don't do a long enough burnout, or at least you didn't the other night, even though you wupped my ass. From what I heard, you have to do a burnout for at least 10-15 long seconds to really heat up the Dr's to get some real traction. Problem is, you don't get many miles out of them that way.

That's racing homo. Tires don't last more than a season.

Depends on how many times you go to the track and if you drive your car daily or not. My racing car is also my daily driver. I wasn't fortunate enough for my mommy and daddy to buy me a race car strictly for racing, so I have to make my tires last.

race with less gas then if you lose you can use this as an excuse:

alley, "i didn't have a full tank of gas, so i didn't get enough weight on the rear tires and i spun..." :kicks rock:

that wouldn't be a legit race either...
