They can kiss my ass. New "rules" go into effect and they now have outlawed deadlift. Are frickin serious, that's a core lift. If I would have known this, I wouldn't have joined.

whats deadlift
70TorinoGT
29th May 2008, 03:20 PM
Because it's intimidating to the new members. Also, you can't "wear tank tops or offensive logos"...umm, they phucking sell tank tops-you just can't wear them.

You really can't deadlift because it's intimidating to new members? That's retarded. Tank tops..meh..but a gym that doesn't allow you to workout is stupid.
And George a deadlift is when you lift a bar off the ground and set it back down. You don't raise it over your head, you just leave your arms hanging down and straighten your back. It's a core exercise and an incredibly common one at that.

it's a compound lift and one of the best for overall strength and fitness. It involves everything from the calves, quads, hamstrings, glutes, erector spinae, trapezius, and deltoids.

i still don't see how thats intimidating. just cuz the guy in the .gif has huge weights on there doesnt mean everyone has to. i do that same lift mostly for my back (having had surgery last year) i just never knew the name.

that's what you get for joining a gym that's advertising a dirt cheap price. Every retard is gonna join and they have to make adjustments. I've heard a lot of bad things about the changes too, becuase my mom has been a member there for a long time, and a shitload of retards have been joining since january...Now there's never any equipment available during the times that she usually frequents.

what does golds leg press go to?

I didn't join when they ran the stupid ass promotion, I joined about 13 years ago. You aren't kidding when you say every retard...it's out of control. I understand the industry has changed from the Arnold days, but it's a damn gym, let people workout.

what does golds leg press go to?
I know you can put 11 45lb plates per side on the sled, then there is a second tier for additional plates. I never made it more than that.

deadlift is a stupid ass "workout". i dont like it, you can put on a bunch of weight and lift it. why not just do squats, and **** like that.
on that note, i hate watching people do the leg press too. 95% of the people i see do it are doing it wrong. dont put on 500lbs and move your legs 6 inches.

deadlift IN PROPER FORM is a great workout and works more than squats (although this is another great workout)........problem is finding "great form" is impossible in your local gym........

it really is
i guess i just get mad when fatties load up with like 500lbs while doing leg press and dead lifts and think there strong and cant even squat 250. thats prolly another reason why gyms dont let you do these any more. you'll take up all the plates. i would like to see how much i can dead lift tho, in high school i almost broke 1k, haven't done it sence.

They are just being retarded and getting rid of the dedicated lifters and such and going after the people that have never been in a gym and look it because its where the market is at.
For every "fit" person, there are 20 "unfit" people.

Ok, I'm going to have call b.s. on you almost breaking 1k on a deadlift, especially in high school. And I doubt you looked like this in hs

The record under official powerlifting rules is 455 kg (1003 lb) by Andy Bolton.
http://www.qfac.com/advice/andy_bolton.html
The record for a strongman-style deadlift, with a longer bar and from a greater height, is held by Benedikt Magnusson, who deadlifted 500kg (1100 lb). Sigmarsson deadlifted 523 kg from the knees in 1987.
