1st run he jumps the flagger and my car made a loud popping sound when I went into 3rd so I backed off wondering if I had wounded my car. lol
2nd run I pull him outta the whole and end up about 1 carish in front of him at about 110ish when I backed off...but he was obvisously starting to reel me in after 100mph.
his mods were CAI,cat-back.and Nitto drag radials
I was hoping to do a little better or does this sound about right?

Sounds about right to me. Great kill I'd say. LS2 GTO's are supposed to be mid 13's. And he wasn't stock.

Yeah I've read anywhere from mid 13's to low 14's lol so I wasn't really sure if the outcome was about right or not.
oh and good run with the "EVO" Alley

No matter what anyone ever says, I will always think GTOs are ****ing slow. But even with that being said, I would say you did pretty good considering he had exhaust and DRs IMO.

fyi... catback and cai on a ls2 gto=nothing
factory air box is very good, untill u push 500-600 hp
catback=sound cool, performance gain = 0
if he had it tuned.... maybe +5 hp over stock.......

I'm still laughing at antidookie's comment, especially considering a lot of LS2 GTOs are known to have rolled out of the factory with really shitty tunes, so reflashing is a huge power gain on them. Then you have their shitty factory catback that he claims gains zero horsepower by replacing.... dumb****.

ignoring the gain u get from a tune alone... i didnt know i had to spell it out...
im talking about a dyno tuned gto compared to a dyno tuned gto + cai+catback
:( people..
but a no tune gto is almost exactly the same as a no tune gto+cai+catback (some actually lose some throttle response with certain "cai's" )

are the ls2 gto's seriously that slow? i bought an 06 to fix for my wife. its a m6 with a cai, lt's and a borla system. Actually, it will probably be a good thing if it is slow since there will be a woman behind the wheel

Baseline: 341whp/337tq
CAI & muffler delete: 383whp/376tq, untuned.
You're right, I guess that's just a 42whp gain from a filter and muffs. No big deal. The stock air box and catback must flow REAL well....

Would you like me to dig up more examples?

You hear of some LS2s running low 13s, and others fighting to get out of the 14s with no luck. I think their inconstant factory tunes that were all over the boards had something to do with it. It's kinda hard to get one stock GTO to run low 13s when you are only pumping out 325whp when the next one is making 345whp out of the box.
If I ever owned one, I would probably get it tuned ASAP just to clear up any questions rather or not my GTO had one of the GM lemon tunes. You need all the power you can get to make those tanks move.

Ya, the LS2 GTO I raced with the mid 13 second Charger and beat by 5 cars was really hawling ballz.
Better yet, lets race the GTO's that were hear for americruise that said how they ran high 12's at topeka and they had cam, headers, boltons, and a tune. I'll beat em with the stock 13 second Viper.

The '04 LS1 GTOs did, but not the 05-06 LS2s. But ya, what the **** were they thinking? They actually ran a true duel setup for once (unlike a shitty F-Body), then decide they are too damn cheap to redesign a bumper for dual exhaust exits, so they just directed both banks out one side of the rear..... :rolleye: Typical I guess.
