That too. Even Mopar admits the Dakota R/Ts were pretty much a joke.
Good to have another Mopar!
Yeah, but no ****ing way could anyone even remotely consider the Dakota R/T to be Mopar's first real accomplishment, pickup or not.
Christ Lepa, I expected more from you on this.

Tell me you are kidding. The 5.9 stock is a joke, hell even modded it can be considered a joke, unless you do heads and a cam.

Came close ****, er, Nick.
Mopar invented the automatic transmission, got banned from NASCAR for having too much power, held a World Stock Car Speed Record of 216.95 MPH for 35 years, among other things.
yeah, what's the deal with the "R/T" package they put on everything?
Once they started throwing it on the Dakotas, it kind of started getting overused and useless, like Chevy's SS designation that got put on everything they built up until a couple years ago.

Contradictory to what adam says, it did mean something on the dakotas.
The stardard r/t package included a lowered stance, the 5.9L magnum engine backed by the 46re tranny. The rear also had 3.92s standard. The wheels and r/t badges were also obviously included. I want the wheels.

no ****, that seriously still upsets me
and they haven't stopped yet
they have no cars deserving "SS" badging
4 door impala - no
fwd monte carlo - no
big dumb truck - no
trail blazer - no
cobalt - no
next in line is the mighty Aveo SS.....so badass.

Which led to their complete withdrawl from the series, so in effect . . .

Okay, so larger displacement, but still the same old run-of-the-mill 360, with some wheels and stickers. The least they could have done was put a better intake on it. They should have supercharged it and made a Lightning spanker. It's a start, but still weak in comparison for what the R/T designation used to stand for.
But I suppose at least it was quicker than Chevy's 454 SS pickup. Or at least I hope it was.

Yeah its a run of the mill 360 but the platform is there, and to me thats what matters. They make "Lightning Killer" packages, that are simply heads and a cam. The first mod most people do is the M1 intake manifold which pretty much kills off the whole beer barrel restriction. The main loss in power on these motors is the timing. Factory settings can be retuned for almost 60 ft/lbs of tq.
